I don't really understand what you mean by "break the link" between two
frames, but here goes a possible explanation:
You could keyframe the camera at one position, at the end of a move for
example, then move it to a completely different location, heading, etc., and
keyframe it there. If you activate "linear" in the spline menu in the second
keyframe the camera will "snap" to the new location without attempting any
smoothing motion. This will also work for any object.
Is this what you meant?
